Whilst what makes up an emo tattoo is not limited to or restricted to a set of rules, there does seem to be a particular style that suggests a tattoo could be considered emo. Fashion is a big part of the emo subculture, as it is a very effective way of expressing oneself. With fashion you can come across as cute, aggressive, shy, flirty, artistic or a myriad of other styles. Which brings me to my topic:

Emo Skirts

What constitutes an ‘Emo Skirt’, you ask? The answer is simple. Any type of skirt that expresses an ideal, or a feeling, which mind sound like a lot for a simple piece of material. But trust me, ‘Emo Skirts’ can be a powerful fashion statement.

Cute Emo Skirts

‘Cute Emo Skirts’ generally consist of a number of layers, frills and bows. They can be any color, but generally pinks, purples, softer colors teamed with lace, ribbons and fluffy petticoats. Emo fashion is generally alternative in appearance, so black skirts can also be considered ‘cute’ if they have the frills and bows mentioned above.

Hair clips, whilst originally designed for functionality to keep hair in place, have since taken on a new edge; decoration. Particularly with emo girls, hair clips offer practicality – yes, they keep your emo fringe in check – and they also allow you to show off your individual style. Emo hair clips come in many shapes, sizes and colors though the most popular form of emo hair accessories are pretty emo bows and cute heart or star hair clips.

Considering emo hairstyles are mostly about layers, emo hair clips, bows and accessories come in handy to keep your hair under control. Emo girls tend to have longer fringes and hair clips and bows are commonly used to keep an emo girls fringe to the side, whilst also adding a splash of color and finishing off the hairstyle in a unique way. Emo boys are welcome to make use of hair clips and bows aswell.

Emo Bows
Emo bows come in many different colors and styles. They’re even easy enough to make yourself so I’d suggest visiting a craft/materials store and having a look at the ribbon they have in stock. All you need is ribbon, glue and hair clips/pins. The rest is up to your imagination.

Unlike bows, emo hair clips can be as extreme or as simple as desired in that they are not limited to looking like ‘bows’. Five years ago Shana Victor started Pixelgirl Presents as a hobby with just one iconset. Never in a million years did she imagine that it would grow to get so many visitors and submissions! As Pixelgirl Presents grew, she continued adding items to the site that she personally liked and wanted to share with the world; mac-geared artwork, articles about design, tutorials and her favorite links!

Once Pixelgirl Presents expanded to feature some artwork for sale, she started noticing a TON of talented artists and DIY people online selling their one-of-a-kind and limited edition creations.
