New Moon

New Moon is a young adult fantasy-romance novel by author Stephenie Meyer, and is the second book in the Twilight saga. According to Meyer, this book is about losing true love. The title refers to the darkest phase of the lunar cycle, indicating that New Moon is about the darkest time of the protagonist Bella’s life. It was originally published in hardcover in 2006.

Directed by Chris Weitz, the film will star Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, reprising their roles as Bella Swan, Edward Cullen, and Jacob Black, respectively. Melissa Rosenberg returns as the screenwriter for the film. She handed in a draft of the film script during the opening weekend of Twilight. Summit Entertainment greenlit the sequel in late November 2008, following the early success of Twilight.

Other casting choices include Jamie Campbell Bower as Caius, one of the leaders of the Volturi, and Dakota Fanning as Jane, a guard of the Volturi who has the ability to torture people with illusions of pain.
